Plasmonic effects in metallic nanoparticles have attracted major research attention due to their strong light–matter interaction, tunable optical properties, and wide applicability in sensing, photonics, biomedicine, and energy devices. Localized surface plasmon resonance in noble metal nanoparticles such as gold and silver enables enhanced electromagnetic fields, absorption, and scattering at the nanoscale. Indian research groups have made significant contributions in nanoparticle synthesis, plasmonic sensing, surface-enhanced spectroscopy, and nanophotonic device development. This paper presents a comprehensive study of plasmonic effects in metallic nanoparticles with emphasis on Indian experimental and applied research. A mixed experimental–analytical methodology framework is described, followed by compiled results trends from Indian laboratory studies. The study shows that controlled nanoparticle size, morphology, and dielectric environment critically determine plasmonic response and application performance. The paper concludes that Indian research has established strong foundations in plasmonic nanoscience, particularly in low-cost sensing and spectroscopy applications, with growing potential in photonic and biomedical technologies.
