The growing contamination of the environment's water and air supply has led researchers to find effective yet environmentally friendly remediation strategies. Photo catalysis and electro catalysis rise as effective technologies because they efficiently eliminate various pollutants at mild environmental conditions. Nanostructured materials possessing high surface area together with stability and reactivity enable the activation of catalytic breakdown processes to convert dangerous substances into safer or non-hazardous final products. The research acknowledges modern advances in the production along with implementation of photocatalytic and electro catalytic materials for environmental cleanup efforts. The research explores material-based approaches alongside operational methods and performance evaluation of systems which eliminate organic dyes and heavy metals and persistent pollutants. The paper explains both the weaknesses of existing systems along with specific paths to develop durable and expandable catalytic systems for sustainable applications.
