Abstract

Image processing has become one of the most influential technologies in the digital era because it enables computers to analyze, enhance, and interpret visual information efficiently. It involves the application of computational techniques to improve image quality, extract meaningful features, and support intelligent decision-making. The rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and computer vision has significantly expanded the scope of image processing across numerous industries. Today, it is widely used in healthcare, agriculture, security, manufacturing, autonomous transportation, and remote sensing. This paper presents an overview of image processing techniques, explores their practical applications, discusses key challenges, and highlights future research opportunities. The study demonstrates that image processing continues to transform traditional systems into intelligent and automated solutions capable of improving accuracy, efficiency, and productivity [1], [2].
